Thank you, Firefly! (Variations)

night visitor1 Fire Fly (Lightening Bug)

Firefly (Lightening Bug) in for a visit tonight. What an intelligent, expressive little beast! Turns his head, stretches his neck, looks at me, with understanding. Also he seems to lend himself to a more artistic treatment – By playing with exposure, saturation etc., I’ve come up with what I hope are some fun ‘takes’ on the standard insect image –

night visitorStylized FireFly (Lightening Bug)

This rendition is brighter, more stylized. I enjoy what’s happening to the elements, the vanishing edges and refining of outline, particularly on his legs, and how it’s less literal but (to me) more visually interesting.

I LOVE hos this looks like a watercolor sketch you might find in a book about backyard bugs. This wasn't done in a 'watercolor' template but by playing with exposure, saturation, contrast etc. This was so much fun to so tonight. Thank you, FireFly!
